Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get asked most often about roof cleaning, moss removal and soft washing across Hampshire.

Will soft wash roof cleaning damage my tiles?

No. Soft washing operates at very low pressure (typically under 100 psi — the same as a garden hose). It cleans by killing algae and moss with biocide, not by force. This is unlike high-pressure jet washing, which can strip the protective glaze off concrete tiles and crack ridge mortar.

How long does roof cleaning last?

With our 5-year biocide treatment, most Hampshire roofs stay visibly clean for 5–7 years. Roofs heavily shaded by trees or facing north tend to be on the shorter end; south-facing roofs on the longer end.

Do you need scaffolding?

Almost never. Our soft wash system uses extended carbon-fibre poles that reach most roofs from ground level. We only suggest scaffolding for chimney repairs or unusually high properties (4 storeys+).

How long does the job take?

Most domestic roof cleans are completed in 4–8 hours. Larger detached properties or roofs with heavy moss may take a second day.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. We guarantee the biocide treatment for 5 years — if the roof shows visible regrowth in that period, we re-treat free of charge. Payment is only taken after you’re happy with the result.

How much does roof cleaning cost in Hampshire?

Most domestic roof cleans land between £400 and £950. Pricing depends on roof size, tile type, moss density and access. We send a fixed-price quote in writing within 24 hours of receiving photos.

Do you clean gutters as part of the job?

Yes — gutter clearance is included free with every roof clean. The debris that washes off the roof goes straight into our vacuum system.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry Full public liability insurance and our operatives are working-at-heights certified. We’ll happily send proof of cover before any job.

Do I need to be home during the clean?

No, but it helps for the initial walk-around. After that, you can leave us to it. We send before-and-after photos plus the treatment certificate by email.

How do I book?

Call 023 8129 0232, email quotes@roof-cleaning-hampshire.com, or send photos via WhatsApp. Most quotes come back within 24 hours.

About the referral arrangement

How does the referral arrangement work?

Hampshire Roof Care is a specialist matching service. When you enquire, we qualify the job and match your details to the best-fit contractor from our vetted local partner network, who provides the fixed-price quote and carries out the work. Your contract is with the matched delivery partner; we handle the initial connection.

Who actually does the work on my roof?

A vetted specialist from our approved local partner network. Every partner in our network must be fully insured, WAHSA-registered, CHAS or SafeContractor accredited, trade-qualified, and have at least five years' exterior cleaning experience. Which specific partner you get depends on your postcode and the current match.

Do I pay extra because it's arranged through Hampshire Roof Care?

No. Our delivery partners pay Hampshire Roof Care a small referral fee out of their side of any booked job — you pay the same price you would if you found the partner directly. There is no markup on your quote.

Who is responsible if there's a problem with the work?

The matched delivery partner. They carry the public liability insurance and the biocide treatment warranty. Contact them first; if the issue isn't resolved satisfactorily, get back to us and we'll help escalate. Partners who fall short of our standards are removed from the network.
